Ty Segall – Goodbye Bread
I could think of a lot of reasons not to like Goodbye Bread. Ty Segall isn’t really a good singer or an especially talented lyricist– in fact he sounds like a borderline derelict tard on Comfortable Home–, his guitar work is sloppy and distorted, most of the songs on this album sound pretty similar, he’s not particularly original, and nothing he does is very complicated. But that’s exactly where Ty Segall is so enjoyable. His music is rough, simple, and incredibly catchy. He’s got a knack for a melody and his lyrics are visceral and entertaining rather than insightful. And for what it is, this album is the perfect length at 10 tracks and 33 minutes.
